Surgery

     Veterinarians are trained to perform all kinds of surgery and dentistry.  The doctors of Aloha Animal Hospital offer a full range of surgical procedures from routine neuters and spays to fracture repair and dentistry.  The types of surgical demand is vast and we aim high to surgically repair most problems.  We perform exploratories to remove foreign bodies (when Fido eats a pair of socks) and more intricate surgeries with eyes.  Here are some examples of cases.

This is an example of a luxating patella or knee cap that is surgically realigned.  The first image shows the knee cap popping out medially or to the inside of the groove.
 

After creating a deeper groove and moving the tendon insertion over, the knee cap tracts like it should.  This dog runs fast as any dog now.   The bright pin seen on the radiograph on the left holds the alignment in place. 

                       




Here's an example of a cat's leg that was fractured in numerous places.  He healed well with an apparatus called an external fixator applied here at Aloha Animal Hospital:
